Super Special 100th Post

No, I will not be doing a give-away to commemorate my 100th post. The only thing I've been crafting lately is a baby and that's all mine. Though you might want to ask me again in early January. I am a bear when I don't get my nine hours. Get it? Anyway, I know Candice and I started our blogs at about the same time and she reached her 100th post like six months ago, but I have finally arrived. To celebrate, I thought I'd share a story about myself. How unusual for a blog.
This darling outfit was given to me for my birthday in December, long before The Bean was conceived. My cute friend Lindsay knew we had been trying to have a baby for a long time. She also knew that the only thing bothering me about turning thirty was not having a baby yet. She bravely sent me this onesie for luck in my quest. Plus it literally had my name on it. How could she resist? So, my baby was conceived already having one fashionable piece of clothing to its name. The only thing that remained to be seen is whether I would be putting this on a beautiful girl or a rugged boy. Well, until today that is.

It's a Boy!

Surprised? We were! All of our family, all of our friends and both Bear and I were positive we were having a girl. Not one single person guessed boy. I guess we should all stay away from Vegas.

I don't have my official ultra sound till next month, but my doctor has one in his office. He said 14.5 weeks was a little early, but he would probably be able to tell. As soon as the baby's picture came up on the screen he said, "Uh huh." I knew with how quickly he figured it out, it could only mean one thing. Penis. He still asked me what my mother's intuition had told me and I stuck to my guns and said girl. That's when he pointed out the extra digit that in his words, my baby was proudly displaying. We were both floored and kept asking him if he was sure and he kept pointing to the evidence. He gave us a 98% positive.

I have been smiling all day. I am just so happy to know. Bear took a little longer to wrap his mind around it. He was so set on the beautiful name he had picked out. I would tell you, but it's so cute, you would steal it and we're still hoping to use it one day. We're so excited to be adding a little boy to our family. It's finally starting to feel real! If you have any boy names you want to suggest, feel free. We're back to the drawing board on that one. Happy, beautiful, magical, sunshiny, glorious day!

A boy......YUCK! HAHA I'm just joking, that's so exciting! But as we all know girls are better :) Maybe your baby and Sean's baby will be best fwends, how cute seriously! Anyway, you could still name the baby Brooke, just with no E at the end-- Perfect and different.

PS this is Brooke, I'm accidently under Gareth's account

Yay!! Congratulations Lil!!! I had hoped Jack was a girl, so I could have one of each. But Boys are so fun, and so drama free, even at the young age my boys still are. At least I think so...! :)

Good luck picking a name!! Especially a boy name the girls haven't already tried to steal!

Bean Bear is a boy! Congratulations! That is WAY better than a 100th post.

I read that children whose first and last names start with the same letter have higher self-esteem.

So Brad, Barry, Bartholemew, or Biscuit, would make him the most confident baby on the block.

Oh, Lil! I'm so thrilled for you!!!

A word of warning: newborn boys tend to "spray" every time you take their diaper off. Do not leave that little penis uncovered. Grayson is still traumatized from the time he peed in his own eye.

Congratulations to you and Papa Bear!

Congratulations, that is so exciting! Boys are a ton of fun, so are girls, but in a different way :)

Congratulations! Baby boys are awesome. And, I don't know if it will be the same for you, but my morning sickness was shorter with my boy, than my girl (14-15 weeks vs. 20 weeks).

Having 3 boys, let me offer a few suggestions to consider.

1) Someday he will need to be taken seriously in the world. Whether that be as a business person or a general authority. Stay away from the trendy ones - Kanyon, Boston, Tyke... I know boys with all three of those. Kanyon has no choice but to be a Natural Resource major and Tyke can't help but be a professional wrestler. You'd hate to pigeonhole him.

2) Avoid crazy spellings. Honestly, do we need anymore boys named Bob where it's spelled "Bahb"? You don't want the poor kid to have to spell his name for the rest of his life before he actually tells you what it is.

3) Stay away from Aiden, Skyler and Dakota. I have never met one that wasn't ADHD or without serious problems.

4) Don't name him anything that reminds you of old boyfriends. And if you have any kind of immediate adverse reaction, don't think it'll grow on you.

5) Go ahead and say all of those horrible things that pop into your head when you're thinking about boys names because chances are, other people are thinking them too. We have friends who hate sports but named their son Timothy Duncan. If they had said that to either of us, we could have pointed it out and crisis would have been averted.

Boys are great fun. They're stinky and dirty and energetic, but they also give you spontaneous hugs and say things like, "I love you Mommy. When I grow up, can I marry you?" Congratulations!

Well!!! There goes my suggestion of Dakota Kanyon!! And what's wrong with being a Park Ranger??

I love the name Daniel, but hate Danny.. Love Jeremiah, but not Jerry.. Jonathan but not John.

The ONLY male name your Dad & I agreed on was Lucas.. and we used it... Luckily, we didn't have a second boy.

The only other thing I don't like is names that you can't tell what the sex it... for instance Pat or Shelby.

I guess we can rule out Trinity..

Gabriel, Gideon, Cheyenne

I aldo love the name Michael.. but I then I think Uncle Mike.

I'm pretty sure you are already committed to naming him Edward Emmett Bear.

I know I've sent you to this site before (http://www.babynamewizard.com/namipedia/advanced-name-finder), but, I discovered a "find a name" tool that seems more thorough than most and thought I'd send you there again. It asks a whole lot of different questions about whether you want the name to be popular, to have been popular in the past, if you want it to be trendy, etc.

Apparently, Lemon was a top 1000 boys name in 1860....I feel sorry for all the male Lemon's back in the day.

I ran a bit more serious of a search and one of the names it recommended was Bear. Haha...You'd have Bear Bear (or Bear Squared, as I would call him). According to the "Sibling Name Cloud" Bear's often have brothers named Fox and sister's named Sparrow.

I like Kodiak....but...I also don't know if that'd be sticking the poor boy with a name that makes him miserable. He could always go by Kody though.

I checked the sibling cloud for your girl's name (since you'll have her eventually) and came up with the following brothers:
Braeden
Flint
Shannon

Some other options that caught my eye (though not always for good reasons):
Alexander
Atticus
Gabriel
Joaquin
Lucas
Montana
