You remember back in 2004 when I said I would never cut my hair short again? Oh wait, that was pre-blog. Well it was pretty epic, ripe with emotion and very heart-felt. Oooops...
*
It wasn't intentional. I traveled up to Logan to have Mary Hess a.k.a. Best Hair Lady ever, just give me a trim and touch up my color... it had been 6 Months! Despite the spit-up always in my hair and the constant pulling from wet baby hands, diaper bags and baby carriers... I was not going to get the Mom Chop. Even though my hair only looks good long when I curl it and I never have time to curl it anymore... I repeat, I was not going to get the Mom Chop. After all, I did make a vow.

But then Mary said my hair was long enough to donate to Locks of Love and in that split second, my vow no longer seemed important. Whatever repercussions my ego would face, should more than be made up by good Karma, a cooler Summer do and did I mention... no spit-up. I'm sure in a couple weeks, when I have River's 6 month photos taken, I will have a melt down. I had been picturing long wavy "Earth Momma" hair and will now have short "I Heart Polo Shirts" hair. To be honest, no matter what length my hair is, I usually end up with the frazzled "Running Twenty Minutes Late" hair in photos anyway.

So too make a boring hair story a little less long... I'm Lillith Arlene Fields Bear and I ROCK the Mom Chop! After all... I am a Mom.

That's funny you beat me to it -- I am having my hair chopped tomorrow (to donate) and was totally going to blog about it! I just hope mine short 'do is as cute as yours!
That is funny... Great minds think alike, even if mine was accidental.
I did the mom chop too! I feel soo bad that I didn't even notice at the pool that it was short. It looks ADORABLE though! To answer your sleeping questions (since I wasn't much help at the pool)...
River usually wakes up at 7:30, but every now and then will sleep till 9:00... do you let them sleep longer or no, because it throws off the nap schedule?
"If he sleeps past his 3:00 am mark, but gets up at 6:00 am do you feed him and try and put him back down till 8:00 am or hold off till his wake-up time?"
My take: Basically what I've learned is....if you keep him on a strict schedule during the day, he stays on a strict schedule at night. There was one night where he slept past the 8-9 hr mark, and I just fed him when he woke up. However, like you mentioned, if it's too close to his wake up time then it will throw everything off. I would suggest this: try to beat him to it. Wake up at the 8-10 hr mark every night, same time each night. This will regulate him, and will ensure that he doesn't wake you up at 6am. Like you said, it's hard to get back to sleep, but pick your battles - lose sleep in the middle of the night, or have a different awake time each day. Just vote as to what is worse and go with it. But yeah, if you put him on a strict napping schedule and eating schedule, he'll regulate himself! That's what Hutch did, anyway.

"What are her suggestions during "teething times" and such?" Just stick with it. There will be times that they don't feel well, teethe, etc. Nothing you can do about it, but kids still need routine - ESPECIALLY when they are grumpy. Be more understanding, but still stick to the schedule. Once "bootcamp" is over, I think it's ok to not be as harsh about the 20-40-60 rule, but that's just me.
Hope that helps!
Oh and one more thing about the waking up at night to eat thing...
Pick a time, I did 8 hr mark, and wake up at that time to feed him each night if he doesn't wake on his own. Once he's regular with that (he'll probably start waking himself up at that time), then stretch it to 8.5 hrs, then 9, then 10...and next thing you know he'll be able to go as long as you need him to. It's all about routine, I've learned. Give it a try, I hope that helps!!
Phsst that is totally NOT a mom chop!!! I think it's super cute and very flattering on your face! If it was a mom chop it would be way shorter and cury.... ish. I say 2 thumbs up.
That is SO not a mom chop. That is a smart, summer haircut!! The mom chop would be precariously short in the back and involve a bump-it. You look cute!
I think it looks amazing.
I'm sick of my hair and want to chop it, but, my husband's a long hair only fan. *sigh* Perhaps if I start soaking my hair in infant vomit he'll change his mind. ;)
I can't wait for River's 6 month photos!!!!
