Left Hand Appreciation Day

It was brought to my attention that today is Left Hand Appreciation Day. Although, I wasn't quite sure if that meant we were supposed to give appreciation to our left hands, I decided to opt for recognizing my two favorite left handers.

Yes, I may tease him that he eats slow because of a left handed handicap, but I am thankful for this left hand that makes me dinner almost every night and works so hard to support our little family.

Okay, so he stole my milk at the dinner table (if you have a left hander in your family, you know what I'm talking about) but his left hand not only put a roof over my head growing up, but also delivered me into this world. Pretty Cool! I know they make fun targets, but I hope everyone will give their left handers a little love today. After all, it's twice as hard for them to do anything!

Thank yuh, thank yuh verah much. It seems that lefthanders are disproportionately represented among the famous and powerful. Alexander the Great--lefthanded. However, Alexander the Merely Good and Alexander the So-so--both righthanded. Charlemagne--lefthanded. But, Charleminimum, (only sporadically mentioned in history books--righthanded. In the United States, recently lefthandedness is almost a requirement for the presidency. Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and Bill Clinton were all lefthanded. George W. Bush was not. (Whew, you can't blame him on us!) In the '92 election, all 3 major candidates, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and H. Ross Perot, were all lefthanded. Again in '96 all were lefthanded, Bill Clinton, H. Ross Perot, and Bob Dole, (switched from righthanded to lefthanded due to a war injury). Again in 2008, both major candidates, John McCain and "Rock" Obama, are lefthanded. Why won't America give a righthander a shot at leading the Free World?

Dad

p.s. On a completely unrelated note, I just saw "Tropic Thunder" with Luke about an hour ago. I give it an enthusiastic two thumbs up. I still laugh when I think about it.
