Related?

People always ask me if River looks like my husband... which is a polite way of saying they don't think he looks like me. Well, here's the proof that at one point in my life, I was cute too. Also, a pretty good artist, if you look close. Just to be clear, I am on the left, at one year old and River is on the right, at 13 months.

Dancing

It is NOT like riding a bicycle. You definitely can't hop back into a class after 12 years and think you are going to be good. Come to think of it, I haven't ridden a bike in a long time, so maybe I wouldn't be any good at that either.

*
I am taking the Modern 2 class at RDT in downtown Salt Lake. It is fast and hard choreography, that usually leaves me spinning by myself five seconds after the music ends. Hmmm... shouldn't I take the Modern 1 class, if I haven't danced in so long? Good question. To bad they DON"T OFFER ONE!

*

I guess they get a kick out of seeing aging moms like me, floundering to songs by someone named Lady Gaga??? Last time I danced, everything was to Sarah, or Jewel, or Fiona. I wish they would use some of these songs again. I would still suck, but at least I would enjoy the music.

At the beginning of tonight's class, when it became decidedly evident I was out of my league, I thought being the worst person in class might do me some good. I've never been the WORST before, maybe I would gain character by not quitting. Well, by the end of class, I can assure you... being the worst is not so good for me, my character or my waistline. My self esteem plummeted. I hated everyone in the class and I wanted to go home and drown my sorrows in hot fudge. So join me next Tuesday at RDT, but not if you are better than me... I don't want to have to hate you.

Cousins

I am behind on about a million things in my life, but since I am too tired to make a priority list, I'm just going to catch up the tiniest bit on my blog. We've been in trip mode lately, so here is a snippet of our Wyoming trip. This was mid March. It was the same trip where River got his first haircut.
*
River and Zander were born five days apart. They have hung out many times, but this was the first trip they got the hang of playing together. I'm sure they will have many more fun times in the future, although, not as crazy as Bear and his cousins, if I have anything to do with it.

What can I say... Boys like to work. They like to play and they like to get away with holding anything that might cut them.

Maybe we'll try football?

Easter Recap

River had his first Easter last year, but since he wasn't sitting up yet, much less "hunting", this is the first time we did eggs.

He also got a big Easter present. He loves this ball pit. It's been a couple weeks and he still isn't over it.

These are the three lone survivors of River's first attempt at dyeing Easter Eggs. Lets just say bring a tarp and safety goggles if you let a 15 month old do it himself.

Home from church and ready to play.

We had a nice long break from the rain in the middle of Easter Sunday. Perfect time to find some eggs.

River did really well. Though when his basket was full, he would dump the eggs out and "refind" them.

I thought he looked ruggedly handsome in his Easter outfit. His hat was a gift from a friend. She sells them on facebook at Vintage Greens. It makes him look like a 1930's newsie. I LOVE IT!

This is River giving us the sign for more. Parents beware teaching this sign to your children. It will be overused and it is hard to turn down.

I hope you all had a beautiful Easter. Reflecting on the Savior conquering death, spending time with my beautiful family and pondering how those two things together truly make all my dreams come true... it doesn't get better.
